Steamforged Games announced a partnership with developer Jagex to bring RuneScape to tablets later this year OSRS Gold. The MMORPG will be getting not one but two tablestop versions, a board game as well as a tabletop role-playing game. The board game will launch on Kickstarter early in the year, while the tabletop RPG will go straight to retailers.
The games will draw an inspiration from the world of fantasy in RuneScape, Gielinor. The characters, adventures, and locations which the MMORPG has created a name for over its long time. The board game will send one of five gamers on an campaign based on quests through the lands of Gielinor.
In the announcement released by Steamforged players can "craft and upgrade equipment, upskill their characters, prepare special meals, interact with NPCs, and test their abilities while exploring different regions of the world". Like the multiplayer MMORPG, players can also encounter side-quests that enhance the world of the game.
While the TTRPG is expected to comprise an exquisitely illustrated book packed with the essential information for players to run the RuneScape TTRPG. Players can create their own characters and go off into the lands of Gielinor for "unique and exciting quests RS Gold". Additionally, the TTRPG guidebook includes "fully in line with rules of fifth edition of the world's best role playing games for tabletop".
